Capital City Fly Fishers

Hooked on Fly Fishing Not Drugs Program

South Callaway R-II Middle School students participate in after-school activities emphasing the life sport of fly fishing. This program is designed to offer an alternative to negative influences, such like drugs, alcohol and peer pressure. It is an official affilate youth club with the Federation of Fly Fishers - Southern Council. The school is located in Mokane, Missouri.

Regina Van Patten - South Callaway R-II 8th Grade science/health teacher, Nathaniel "Nate" Arbuckle - South Callaway R-II 7th Grade science/math teacher, Mark Van Patten - Stream Coordination Biologist with MO Stream Team, and several members of the Capital City Fly Fishers guide teach students in the principles of this life sport, including entomology, fly casting, fly fishing, and fly tying. Meetings are held on the third Monday of each month, with the exception of December and May during the school year.

2009-2010 Schedule of Meetings

All meetings are 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. unless otherwise noted.

The school administration has asked us to expand the program to include 6th Grade this year. This is a mark of accomplishment and is an honor for CCFF and its efforts in this regard. Download the 2009-2010 Schedule/Syballus [PDF].
