2022 Fly Tying

2022 Fly Tying Sessions

Lee Kudra tying a fly pattern

Although this is not a fly tying class, this is a great way to improve your tying skills and accumulate lots of flies. From January through February, CCFF members get together to tie a "fly of the week" in preparation for nicer weather. Sessions run every Tuesday night from January 4 - February 22 at the Knights of Columbus Hall (Meeting Room in the Basement). At the tying sessions, more experienced tyers demonstrate how to tie the fly of the week and assist novice tyers with hints and suggestions. In case of inclement weather, please see home page for information advising the session has been postponed due to weather hazards.

The beginner's session will begin at 5:30 pm. Terry Smith has agreed to be an instructor for the session and I’m sure there we be others to help him out.  If you would like to help, please come in for the session.  This session is open to those new to fly tying and those who would like a refresher on the basics.  If you have fly tying equipment, please bring it.  Not knowing how many people to expect, we may be limited on the number of vises and other equipment available for use.

Member's meeting will begin at 6:00 pm.

The second session will start at 6:30 pm.There will be a different fly pattern presented at each session.  The material for the patterns will be supplied.  John Walther has gone through a lot of effort to get a lot of the material packets together.  He may want some help to finish up packets for some of the future sessions.  So, if he does, please be available to help.  We will coordinate this with John at the first tying session.

Fly Tying is open to the public.  You do not have to be a member to attend.  Of course, we do encourage everyone to join.  If you know of anyone that may be interested, please share this information.

If you are planning to attend the upcoming fly tying session on February 1, please be aware that there is another event using the basement meeting room at the KC Hall.  We will be staying at the KC Hall, however, we will be in the room upstairs.  If you come in the front door, the meeting room will be on the right side of the hall and the bar will be to the left.  Times are the same, 5:30 and 6:30.  Board and Officers, please remember we are meeting between sessions to continue discussion on a new banquet plan.
